Jason Phillips has joined the Bad Apple Drag Racing Team as of 2025! He has taken ownership of the original car and transformed it into his personal vision of Black Betty. He has spent the offseasons renovating, personalizing, and updating the car for the upcoming race season. Welcome to the team!

“I have always loved cars, motorcycles, and anything that had a motor basically. My passion for fixing things started when I was a kid and always wanted to ride and jump my bicycle everywhere, crashing into everything. Then I found engines and cars, loud exhaust, the smell of burning gas, and Methanol racing fuel. I started street racing back in high school and was lucky enough to have a job that took me to the Chief Auto Parts Winter Nationals drag racing event with my cousin Dan. That kind of locked in what we do now. I have raced out at Thunder Valley off and on with friends and family for some time. In the beginning as more of a hobby, not really thinking I would ever race competitively. When Dan began racing out there, it sounded very enticing, and wanted to do everything possibly to assist. Two seasons later, the Camaro went up for sale, and, well…. you can finish the story from there. Here we are, two cousins, more like brothers, living our childhood dreams of racing. I love competing against other skilled drivers, and I leave it all on the line. When the racing is done, I always take time to thank the other drivers for the opportunity to race, win or lose, with a smile.
